Today, Dr. Aaron Lohmeyer is Assistant Professor of Music Education at Winona State University and program director for music education. He received his B.A. in Religion from Davidson College, M.M. in Saxophone Performance from Florida State University and both his M.Ed and Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University. His doctoral work focused on diverse musical literacies and creative practices.
Dr. Lohmeyer has developed his pedagogy and research interests through public school teaching experiences in classroom general music, beginning band, world drumming, class guitar, jazz band, music for special learners and creative composition. As a performer, he seeks to maintain his interests in jazz saxophone, old-time banjo, baroque recorder and classical guitar.
